Merce Cunningham a lifetime of dance by Merce Cunningham( visu )
6 editions published between 2000 and 2001 in English and held by 470 libraries worldwide
Merce Cunningham, a colossus of 20th-century choreography, is perhaps most famous for his sheer fecundity--inventing steps, choreographing 200+ dances, and over 800 "Events" (site-specific works). At the forefront of the American avant-garde for more than 50 years, he abandoned conventional elements of dance structure, most controversially, the relationship of dance and music influenced by his collaboration with composer John Cage. Endlessly inventive and inquisitive, Cunningham collaborated with a wide range of composers, designers, and artists, incorporating video into pieces, and employing computerized choreography in his later years to instruct members of his company. Unlike most choreographers, movement itself was his principal subject matter--neither narrative nor musical form determines the dance structure. Cunningham leaves a vast legacy, but he expressed his view of his art saying, "Dancing is the art of the present tense."

Koko a talking gorilla ( visu )
7 editions published between 1991 and 2006 in English and held by 414 libraries worldwide
Koko, a Talking Gorilla is a documentary from 1978 that observes a zoo-born female gorilla in the fifth year of an experiment in human-simian communications. Dr. Penny Patterson has taught Koko hundreds of sign-language words in American Sign Language. Observing Koko's daily routine, her responses, her rejection of a new yellow sweater for her worn older red one, and her initiation of new subjects in conversation prompts more questions than it answers. What separates man from animal? The ability to construct a society, to speak, or to understand complex thought? No matter the conclusions, the film remains a compelling document of a fascinating experiment

The eye of Vichy L'Oeil de Vichy ( visu )
9 editions published between 1993 and 2002 in English and French and held by 317 libraries worldwide

By refining and expanding on the work of the founders of criminology, today's forensic scientists link crime victims to perpetrators in ways that almost defy belief. In this program, Professor Matile of France's Museum of Natural History; Professor Evenot, expert in odontology; and noted anthropologist Professor Perrot discuss the ways in which microscopy, entomology, dental records, and facial reconstruction help police solve crimes. The classic contributions of Lacassagne to ballistics, Revenstorf to forensic biology, Megnien to forensic entomology, and Guerassimov, who is shown actually doing a facial reconstruction, round out the historical background on these remarkable procedures
Les médias et l'information : l'impossible transparence du discours by Patrick Charaudeau( Book )

The Scene of the crime ( visu )
2 editions published between 2003 and 2006 in English and held by 199 libraries worldwide
Before detectives set foot on a crime scene, forensic scientists must first painstakingly glean every bit of evidence. In this program, Professor Margot of the Forensic Science Institute of Lausanne describes advances in criminal science. New technology has made it possible to capture footprints with Mylar and static electricity rather than plaster; to cause fingerprints on a shell casing to reappear after the bullet has been fired and ejected; to computerize Identikit composites; and to identify firearms and ammunition by discharging weapons into pseudo-flesh and examining the results. The contributions of Reiss and Locard to crime scene analysis, along with Godart's role in the 1927 Sacco and Vanzetti investigation, provide some of the historical antecedents of modern criminology
