Trondheim, 1929. Håkon Bleken and Inger Sitter were born on the 9th of January and the 18th of October respectively. The same year building work commenced on Trondhjem kunstforening’s gallery, which today is Trondheim kunstmuseum’s main building in Bispegata. Three important events in one year – this year two of them are celebrated in the third, with the exhibition 'Bleken og Sitter' on the first floor of the gallery at TKM Bispegata. Surprisingly the expo consists mainly of brand new and recent works, countered by a smaller retrospective section, based on works gifted to Trondheim kunstmuseum by Bleken and Sitter, as well as other works from the collections.0Inger Sitter grew up and went to school in the medieval town of Antwerp. The family would commute between Trondheim, London, and Finland (where they stayed with her mother’s family). Summers were spent in the Mediterranean, and not least in Flatanger. Trondheim was also Håkon Bleken’s childhood home, and he would spend his summers at his cabin on Tørøya in Åsenfjorden. Both artists have a strong connection to Flatanger.0Both Sitter and Bleken made their debut at Trondhjems kunstforening at a young age; they were trained by the artists in their home town, and went on to study art at the National Academy of Art in Oslo. Sitter later attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, and also studied in Paris.00Exhibition: Trondheim kunstmuseum, Norway (14.6.-19.10.2014)

"Mysteries is the story of Johan Nielson Nagel, a mysterious stranger who suddenly turns up in a small Norwegian town one summer - and just as suddenly disappears. Nagel is a complete outsider, a sort of modern Christ treated in a spirit of near parody. He condemns the politics and thought of the age, brings comfort to the "insulted and injured," and gains the love of two women suggestive of the biblical Mary and Martha. But there is a sinister side of him: in his vest he carries a vial of prussic acid."--Jacket
