This thesis describes a project to develop an internal gettering process to collect and trap potentially harmful defects in a silicon wafer. This gettering process was then incorporated into the standard metal gate PMOS processes utilized at RIT. Experiment results showed that the gettering process did improve device characteristics, but only in the center of the silicon wafer

We have determined that oligo-prostaglandin B (oligo-PGB) relaxes airways of guinea pigs when studied in vitro. In this study we used both high molecular weight mixture (HMW) and oligo-PGB forms of the compound. We also investigated whether or not the relaxation is dependent upon the concentration of oligo-PGB, the contractile substance used to enhance tone, the integrity of epithelial cells layer and the release of cyclooxygenase metabolites. We further analysed the effect of oligo-PGB on 'acute' (protocol IV) and 'chronic' (protocol V) preparations in regard to the immediate hypersensitivity phenomenon. In the chronic preparation, the tissue was incubated in the presence of oligo-PGB for 18 or 24 hours

Productivity resulting from the multi-disciplinary approach we have been developing for studying 02 toxicity is obvious. We have quite thoroughly defined (both qualitatively and quantitatively) the temporal sequalae of cardiopulmonary structural changes associated with onset, duration, and intensity of 02 exposure as well as changes due to varying the rate of withdrawal from the hyperoxic environment. Theses studies in rats, rabbits, and hamsters have been extended to testing a variety of pharamacologic as well as dietary manipulations which alter tolerance to pilmonary 02 toxicity and hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction. At present, each bit of information obtained continues to direct us toward microsonal enzymes and serotenergie regulation. Our major goals for Year 05 involve studies directed at the involvement of these systems in the oxygen-related insults
