Mies in America by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe( Book )
28 editions published in 2001 in English and held by 738 libraries worldwide
"This study of one of the 20th century's greatest architects re-evaluates the entire body of work undertaken by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe between his emigration to America in 1938 and his death in 1969. Based on considerable new research and bringing to light previously unstudied material - drawings and collages, photographs, project documents, letters, and extensive interviews with many of those who worked with Mies - this is the first study to make full and in-depth use of available archival material. Its nine essays, distinct in style of argumentation, focus, and ambition, constitute a new interpretation of a major figure in architectural history."
Otto Wagner, Adolf Loos, and the road to modern architecture by Werner Oechslin( Book )
10 editions published between 2001 and 2002 in English and held by 337 libraries worldwide
"Contemporary architectural theory emphasizes the importance of "tectonics," the term used to articulate the relationship between construction, structure and architectural expression. Despite the term's currency, little consideration has been given to its origins or historical significance. In his study, Werner Oechslin examines the attempts by early modern theoreticians of architecture to grapple with the relationship between appearance and essence, which is crucial to the discourse of tectonics. Referring to the writings of Karl Botticher, Gottfried Semper, Otto Wagner and Adolf Loos, Oechslin follows this development from theories of a Classical architecture without columnar orders to a Modern architecture upholding the "truth" of its own architectural expression
Arnaboldi by Michele Arnaboldi( file )
5 editions published in 2010 in English and Italian and held by 310 libraries worldwide
Michele Arnaboldi, an architect from Ticino, who has worked for Luigi Snozzi, among others, founded his own firm in Locarno in 1995. He has made his reputation above all with residential architecture. He did, however, also attract attention when his design in collaboration with Raffaele Cavadini won the international competition for the design of the Expo 2000 grounds in Hanover. This volume documents thirty-five of Arnaboldi's projects, primarily residences in Switzerland and Italy but also public buildings such as the new cultural center in Lugano, the sports center in Tenero, La Carità hospital in Locarno, and the pavilion for the Locarno film festival. Two essays and an interview with Michele Arnaboldi provide deeper insight into his attitude toward design

The compact overview reveals how consistently Dudler has systematically developed his conceptual approach out of the history of architecture. The son of a Swiss stonemason and a student of Oswald Mathias Ungers, Dudler's continuous engagement with the European city has assured him a standing as one of the most distinctive and independent of the German-speaking architects. His many projects are each illustrated here on two to six pages of images, drawings, historical references and model views, with accompanying explanatory texts. Among the featured works are the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (Berlin), Museum Ritter (Waldenbuch), the celebrated Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm Center (Berlin), and the new concert hall in Reutlingen
