"Die erste Quelle des Films ist mein großes Interesse am Geschehen im Iran. Aber ich will meine Erzählung vom Wandel dieses Landes nicht auf den politischen Aspekt beschränken. Der Film lebt noch aus einer zweiten Quelle: meiner eigenen Geschichte. Wie viele syrische Juden, die in den 40er Jahren in den Libanon auswanderten, haben auch meine Eltern die iranische Staatsangehörigkeit erworben, die auch die meine geworden ist. Bis Mitte der 80er Jahre hatte ich keine andere. Dann wurde ich französischer Staatsbürger, aber die Iraner betrachten mich weiterhin als einen der ihren. Ich fahre zum ersten Mal in "mein Land", um für meine Tochter Assia, an die ich meine imaginäre Identität weitergegeben habe, einen Teppich zu kaufen. Thema des Films ist die Suche nach diesem Teppich für Assia." (Selim Nassib)
