Fourth generation management : the new business consciousness by Brian L Joiner( Book )
25 editions published between 1993 and 2010 in 5 languages and held by 1,012 libraries worldwide
In the past decade, an increasingly global marketplace has driven companies to seek more effective ways to manage. The methodologies that emerged from this investigation include total quality management (TQM), continuous improvement, reengineering, time-based competition, visionary leadership, and many others. What is still missing, however, is a clear explanation of the basic principles that underlie and unify these seemingly diverse approaches. Now, from Brian Joiner, the most articulate voice of the new breed of management gurus, comes Fourth Generation Management. This landmark book provides a coherent and concise synthesis of the best ideas being implemented today and the most promising ones taking shape for tomorrow. The key elements of Fourth Generation Management are a dedication to quality as defined by the customer, a scientific approach to rapid learning, and the creation of team-spirited relationships both within and beyond our organizations

The Current index to statistics is a bibliographic index to publications in statistics, probability, and related fields. The on-line CIS extended database indexes the entire contents of over 160 "core journals", in most cases from 1975 (or first issue if later) to the current end year, and pre-1975 coverage for some, selected articles with statistical content since 1975 from about 1200 additional journals (cumulatively) in related fields, and about 11,000 books in statistics published since 1975

Fundamentals of fourth generation management ( visu )
1 edition published in 1992 in English and held by 6 libraries worldwide
Shows how and why the implementation of fourth generation management--which focuses on quality, scientific approach, and team work--can be used to improve customer satisfaction and labor productivity in an operating system. Uses dramatizations to exemplify previous management techniques, explain the needs of an individual operating system, highlight the changes that are needed for improvement and efficiency, and show the benefits of fourth generation management
The ubiquitous role of f'/f in efficiency robust estimation of location by Brian L Joiner( Book )
3 editions published in 1980 in English and held by 5 libraries worldwide
This paper is primarily expository in nature and focuses on the all pervasive importance of f'/f in efficient estimation of location, with primary emphasis on the role of f'/f in robust estimation. Connections between M estimators (maximum likelihood-like), R (rank) estimators and L estimators (linear combinations of order statistics) are discussed and an alternative heuristic explanation of f'/f is given showing why it is an intuitively reasonable quantity on which to base estimation. The asymptotic relative efficiency of each class of estimators is shown to be the square of a correlation coefficient related to f'/f and reasons are given as to why R estimators might often prove to have superior robustness properties relative to L and M estimators. Representations of the Space of Distributions in Robust Estimation of Location by D. L Hall( Book )
2 editions published in 1981 in English and held by 3 libraries worldwide
In many situations it is useful to have a low-dimensional representation of the space of distributions. In this report, one, two and three dimensional representations are given which are of particular relevance to the study of robust estimation of location based on rank estimators. The distances are defined as functions of the asymptotic relative efficiency of the most efficient rank estimator for one distribution when used on data from another distribution. Values of these distance functions are computed for a large number of pairs of distributions and multidimensional scaling is used to find the low-dimensional representations. (Author)
