With the brilliance and humanity that have made him a major figure in world literature, Ivan KlIma, in The Ultimate Intimacy (a New York Times Notable Book of the Year), explores the universal themes of love, adultery, and faith. Pastor Daniel Vedra cares for his family and his congregation, ministers to prisoners, and is a sought-after commentator on the rapidly changing society of the Czech Republic. But when a beautiful stranger comes to hear him preach, Daniel soon finds himself falling in love with another man's wife. As his heart stirs, the order that once underpinned Daniel's life begins to unravel. And as a result, he stands to betray everything he has lived for: his family, his vocation, and his God
Karel Čapek : life and work by Ivan Klíma( Book )
41 editions published between 1962 and 2003 in 5 languages and held by 588 libraries worldwide
"Karel Capek - Life and Work is a look at the important pre-war Czech author of such works as R.U.R., War with the Newts, Three Novels, and Tales from Two Pockets, through the eyes of one of the most important post-war Czech writers, Ivan Klima. It is a personal essay from a writer's more than a critic's point of view. And although originally written in Czech, the book was commissioned by Catbird Press and was therefore written with foreign readers in mind; in other words, no prior knowledge of Capek's writings or his milieu is required."--Jacket

Loď, jménem Naděje by Ivan Klíma( Book )

Nakonec . . . mi z toho vyšlo něco jiného: příběh o falešném vůdci, snad trochu příšerná zkazka o tajuplné lodi, která už dávnoztratila smysl svéplavby, - i jakási velmi volná parafráze spasitelské legendy."
