Disco I: Incluye la grabación completa de El dúo de "La Africana" con todos sus diálogos y los ocho números musicales originales. El texto de la obra de Miguel de Echegaray está ligeramente adaptado y reducido, según la dirección de escena original de José Luis Alonso (1985) y las sucesivas revisiones que ha realizado Juanjo Granda en cada una de las reposiciones que ha tenido este montaje en el Teatro de la Zarzuela (1991, 1992 y 2000) y últimamente en el Teatro real de Madrid (2003). -- Disco II: Tradicionalmente ha existido la costumbre en los teatros de intecalar algunos números musicales en diferentes momentos de la representación de la misma zarzuela. Esto es lo que ocurrió en las funciones que tuvieron lugar en los días 30 y 31 de diciembre en 2003 en el Teatro Real de Madrid. Fue el propio director artístico del coliseo madrileño, Emilio Sagi, quien introdujo a cada una de las invitadas en la ecena para que pudieran ser "escuchadas" por el empresario Querubini y por todos aquellos aficionados que escuchen esta grabación
