Time series analysis by state space methods by J Durbin( Book )
44 editions published between 2001 and 2012 in English and held by 542 libraries worldwide
This excellent text provides a comprehensive treatment of the state space approach to time series analysis. The distinguishing feature of state space time series models is that observations are regarded as made up of distinct components such as trend, seasonal, regression elements and disturbence terms, each of which is modelled separately. The techniques that emerge from this approach are very flexible and are capable of handling a much wider range of problems than the main analytical system currently in use for time series analysis, the Box-Jenkins ARIMA system. The book provides an excellent source for the development of practical courses on time series analysis
Distribution theory for tests based on the sample distribution function by J Durbin( Book )

State space and unobserved component models : theory and applications : proceedings of a conference in honour of James Durbin by A. C Harvey( Book )
6 editions published in 2004 in English and held by 123 libraries worldwide
This 2004 volume offers a broad overview of developments in the theory and applications of state space modeling. With fourteen chapters from twenty-three contributors, it offers a unique synthesis of state space methods and unobserved component models that are important in a wide range of subjects, including economics, finance, environmental science, medicine and engineering. The book is divided into four sections: introductory papers, testing, Bayesian inference and the bootstrap, and applications. It will give those unfamiliar with state space models a flavour of the work being carried out as well as providing experts with valuable state of the art summaries of different topics. Offering a useful reference for all, this accessible volume makes a significant contribution to the literature of this discipline
Seasonal adjustment of unemployment series by R. L Brown( Book )

Efficient fitting of linear models for continuous stationary time series from discrete data by J Durbin( Book )
3 editions published between 1960 and 1961 in English and held by 3 libraries worldwide
Consideration is given to the problem of estimating the parameters of the rational spectral density function of a continuous process given n observations equi-spaced in time. The estimates are derived by assuming the observations to be normally distributed. However, it must not be thought that the properties of the estimates depend critically on this assumption. If the dis(over) tribution is non-normal, the estimation process can be thought of as arising from a sort of generalized least-squares method. The joint distribution of the equi-spaced observations is considered, and the relevant parameters of this distribution is estimated first. These are then converted to estimates of the parameters of the spectral density. The estimation of the parameters of the underlying stochastic differentialequation model is also considered. (Author)
