Albina and the dog-men : a fantastical novel by Alejandro Jodorowsky( Book )
11 editions published between 2002 and 2016 in Spanish and English and held by 166 libraries worldwide
A darkly funny, surreal novel set in Chile and Peru, Albina and the Dog-Men is Alejandro Jodorowsky's sprawling modern myth in which sexual desire appears as a dangerous and generative force that mutates and transforms, unraveling identities and rending the social and moral fabric of a small town. Written with the stunning vision and cinematic flair he brought to his cult 1970s psychedelic freak-out films El Topo and The Holy Mountain, Jodorowsky turns the classic stranger-comes-to-town narrative on its head in his novel Albina and the Dog-Men. When two women--a beautiful amnesiac albino giantess and her protector, a leather-tough woman called Crabby--arrive in this South American desert town, Albina's otherworldly allure and unfettered sensuality turns men into wild animals. Chased at the same time by a clubfoot criminal, Albina and Crabby must fend off their aggressors before the town consumes itself in an orgy of lust and violence

"Spanning multiple decades and continents, this phantasmagorical epic is the result of a unique collaboration between an award-winning American author and the famous French illustrator of Alejandro Jodorowsky's Bouncer. Writer Jerome Charyn and artist Francois Boucq combine their talents to recount a surrealistic tale about the wife of a philandering magician and her struggles with terrifying demons, both real and imaginary. Originally published as La Femme du magicien, The Magician's Wife was awarded the 1986 Prix Alfred and the Grand Prix (Sierre). The English-language version has been out of print for three decades, during which time the graphic novel has developed a deep cult following, this new edition promises to mesmerize a new generation of readers"--

"Inspired by Herman Melville's novella, this graphic novel recounts a gifted and naive young man's recruitment by the Soviet secret service and his adventures in New York City as a spy. The tale begins in the aftermath of World War II, when a Ukrainian orphan with remarkable psychic powers is selected and trained by the KGB. Two decades later he arrives in the United States to lead a double life. Operating under thename Billy Budd, he conducts espionage while working with a construction crew that builds skyscrapers. Billy's rescue of a co-worker and the resulting friendship lead the agent in the direction of a spiritual existence, a previously unimaginable possibility. But can Billy escape his Soviet masters? This edition features a new English translation by author Jerome Charyn, who previously collaborated with illustrator François Boucq on the acclaimed graphic novel The Magician's Wife. An Introduction by Paul Pope, author and illustrator of Batman: Year 100, provides additional insights into this Cold War thriller. Suggested for mature readers"--

De prooi van wolvinnen by Boucq( Book )
3 editions published in 2007 in German and Dutch and held by 22 libraries worldwide
La vengeance du manchot by Boucq( Book )
4 editions published in 2005 in French and held by 22 libraries worldwide
[SDM]
