Introduction to post-Keynesian economics by M Lavoie( Book )
35 editions published between 2006 and 2010 in English and held by 570 libraries worldwide
"This book offers an accessible introduction to post-Keynesian economics, showing that there is an alternative to neoclassical economics and its free-market economic policies. Post-Keynesian economics is founded on realistic assumptions and stylized facts, such as interest targeting by central banks or constant average variable costs in manufacturing and services. The author shows how these more realistic foundations give rise to macroeconomic implications that are entirely different from those of received wisdom with regards to employment, output growth, inflation and monetary theory. For instance, the author demonstrates that higher minimum wages or real wages can increase both labour employment and the corporate profit rates, and that faster output growth need not lead to higher inflation."--BOOK JACKET
Monetary economics : an integrated approach to credit, money, income, production and wealth by Wynne Godley( Book )
26 editions published between 2006 and 2012 in English and held by 368 libraries worldwide
This book challenges the mainstream paradigm, which is based on the inter-temporal optimisation of welfare by individual agents. It introduces a new methodology for studying how it is institutions which create flows of income, expenditure and production together with stocks of assets (including money) and liabilities, thereby determining how whole economies evolve throughtime. Starting with extremely simple stock flow consistent (SFC) models, the text describes a succession of increasingly complex models. Solutions of these models are used to illustrate ways in which whole economiesevolve when shocked in various ways. Readers will be able to downloadall the models and explore their properties for themselves. A major conclusion is that economies require management via fiscal and monetary policyif full employment without inflation is to be achieved

Central banking in the modern world : alternative perspectives ( Book )
9 editions published between 2004 and 2005 in English and held by 201 libraries worldwide
"Contributors to the volume carefully examine the procedures pursued by central banks, the monetary policy transmission mechanisms suggested by central bankers themselves, and the assumptions imbedded in the New Consensus. They propose alternative analyses that clearly demonstrate the limits of modern central banking and point to the possible instability of monetary economies. Heterodox and orthodox monetary macroeconomists alike will find this illuminating book of great interest."--BOOK JACKET
The stock-flow consistent approach : selected writings of Wynne Godley by Wynne Godley( file )
13 editions published between 2011 and 2012 in English and held by 160 libraries worldwide
This book is the intellectual legacy of Wynne Godley, the famous British economist who was the head of the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Cambridge for nearly 20 years, after having been deputy director of the Economic section at the UK Treasury. These selected writings are useful not only as a summary of the evolution of Godley's analysis, but also equip economists with new tools for the achievement of sustainable economic growth. Professor Godley's work always originated from puzzles in the real world economy, rather than from curiosities in economic models, and his work has retained its practicality; the stock-flow models have proved to be effective in predicting recent recessions. These essays present Godley's challenge to accepted wisdom in the field of macroeconomic modelling, which, in his opinion, did not reflect the economics that he had learned by working on practical matters for the Treasury in the 1960s. Godley developed post-Keynesian traditions and created models which fully integrate theory with the financial system and real demand and output

In defense of post-Keynesian and heterodox economics : responses to their critics by Frederic S Lee( Book )
13 editions published between 2012 and 2013 in English and held by 117 libraries worldwide
Post-Keynesian and heterodox economics challenge the mainstream economics theories that dominate the teaching at universities and government economic policies. And it was these latter theories that helped to cause the great depression the United States and the rest of the world is in. However, most economists and the top 1% do not want mainstream theories challenged-for to do so would mean questioning why and how the 1% got where they are. Therefore, numerous efforts have been and are being made to discredit if not suppress Post-Keynesian and heterodox economics. These efforts have had some su
