Filmed during the AMNH Parícutin Expeditions (1943-1944), this film features long-shots and close-ups of Parícutin, an active volcano in the state of Michoacan, Mexico. The Tarasco people of the nearby towns of Juan de Parangaricutiro and Urupan del Progreso are seen farming in ash-covered fields and removing ash from the roofs of their homes and businesses. Frederick Pough is seen using a pyrometer to take the temperature of the cone of the volcano through crevices.
