Henry Skilton (1718-1802), son of John Skilton, was serving in the British navy, and left the ship in Boston about 1735, settling in Preston, Connecticut. He married Tabitha Avery in 1741, and moved to Southington, Connecticut to establish a medical practice in 1750. In 1760 he moved to Woodbury, and in 1788 to Watertown, Connecticut. He also served as a doctor with the Revolutionary Army. Descendants and relatives lived in New England New York, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nevada, California and elsewhere. Includes genealogical data, some ancestry, and history of the surname in England to 1090 A.D
