Lantana by Ray Lawrence( visu )
25 editions published between 2001 and 2010 in 5 languages and held by 807 libraries worldwide
Lantana: a noxious and troublesome weed with dense and spiky undergrowth, sometimes cultivated for its colorful, aromatic flowers (film website). Like the plant, this film is a thicket: lovely and sweet smelling on its surface, dense and thorny beneath. In Lantana, a quartet of married couples from different strata of urban Australian life--wealthy Valerie and John, the middle-class Zats, working-class Jane and her estranged husband Pete, and struggling, just barely working-class Nik and Paula--are connected by psychiatrist Valerie, whose disappearance is the event around which these couples lives begin to revolve. The delicately layered storyline reminds viewers of three essential truths about human existence: No one is exactly what he or she seems; actions generate ripples that reach far beyond the actions themselves; and life does go on, no matter what, but it is never the same as before. Before what? Before everything
One night the moon by Rachel (directed by) Perkins( visu )
11 editions published between 2000 and 2006 in English and held by 97 libraries worldwide
Said to be based on a real-life incident in a remote part of South Australia in 1932, a young girl living with her parents on a desolate sheep run, is entranced one night by a full moon. She leaves her bed and room to follow the moon into the rough countryside. Her absence is discovered by her mother within a few hours and her father rides into town to get help. The veteran police sergeant brings along his black tracker to lead the search. Incredibly, the father refuses to have the black tracker on his property. Rather, he gathers as many white men as possible to search while the tracker watches helplessly as every trace of the child is stamped to dust. After days of futile searching, the mother enlists the support of the tracker, who finds the girl within hours, despite the trampling of the trail by the earlier searchers. But of course it is too late

Spring and fall by Paul Kelly( Sound Recording )
6 editions published in 2012 in English and held by 47 libraries worldwide
Recorded in Gippsland, country Victoria with J. Walker (Machine Translations) ? comes Australian National Treasure - Paul Kelly?s long awaited first album in 5 years. Some of the guest musicians on the album include Dan Kelly, Pete and Dan Luscombe, Vika & Linda Bull and Laura Jean. The concept of the album is best described by Paul himself: ?Spring And Fall is a song cycle. It?s been five years since I made a record and perhaps the experience of writing a book during that time made me attuned to the idea of developing a close knit structure for the next thing I did. I knew I didn?t just want to put out a collection of songs loosely related to each other. Also, noticing that people are listening to music more and more now in a grazing kind of way ? picking a song here and a song there ? spurred me on to try and make a record that would take a stand on behalf of the ALBUM. I?m a music grazer with the best of them but there is still a deep satisfaction in encountering a set of songs that unfolds from start to finish and demands to be heard in its entirety. So Spring And Fall has an arc suggested by its title. There are multiple viewpoints with links from song to song. Each song contains the seed of the song that follows. They are all love songs and the album is a love story.? - Paul Kelly
