Beyond compost : a VermiChester guide to converting organic waste beyond compost using worms in a medium-scale composting system by Tom Wilkinson( Book )
1 edition published in 2009 in English and held by 5 libraries worldwide
This book, Beyond Compost, deals with the subject as it relates to converting organic waste from school lunchrooms, community kitchens, greenhouses and plant growers, and the processes that are somewhere in the middle. There are some fine products available for the home vermiculturalist, and large commercial waste composting operations use expensive equipment. The equipment described in this book is made form materials that are not expensive. Unlike large commercial windrow systems, the methods used are based on limited space. An interesting concept described in this book involves harvesting. Most small systems use very labor intensive methods to remove the vermicompost. The development of a simple harvester, combined with an improved procedure of handling, makes it possible to separate worms, unfinished compost, and finished vermicompost in large volumes very quickly
