Fractal cities : a geometry of form and function by Michael Batty( Book )
11 editions published in 1994 in English and held by 339 libraries worldwide
The book contains sixteen pages of stunning computer graphics and explanations of how to construct them, as well as new insights into the complexity of social systems. The authors provide a gentle and intelligible introduction to fractal geometry as well as an exciting visual understanding of the form of cities, thus providing one of the best introductions to fractal geometry available for non-mathematicians and social scientists

Remote sensing and urban analysis by Jean-Paul Donnay( Book )
10 editions published between 2000 and 2003 in English and held by 284 libraries worldwide
The remote sensing of human settlements depends on exogenous data and GIS functionalities. Urban remote sensing has the distinctive characteristic of allowing the combination or physical and morphological data with socio-economic data, but is not yet functioning to a high degree of operationality. A wide range of methodologies for the production and analysis of urban remote sensing data are outlined in this book.To begin with, a number of techniques are examined for the extraction of information which can be applied to digital, multispectral images of urban areas. These include improvements to conventional per-pixel image classification algorithms, various methods of image fusion, the application of syntactic pattern recognition techniques, the role of mathematical morphology, and geostatistical approaches to the analysis and interpretation of image textural and spatial patterns. The book then moves on to the identification of urban forms, the delineation of agglomerations, and the measurement of urban morphology. Surface models are considered, for the analysis of integrated data sets, in which the scope of the applications is widened to consider the estimation of human population levels
Geospatial analysis : a comprehensive guide to principles, techniques and software tools by Michael John De Smith( Book )
31 editions published between 2007 and 2013 in English and French and held by 270 libraries worldwide

Geographic information science & systems by Paul Longley( Book )
9 editions published between 2015 and 2016 in English and held by 137 libraries worldwide
"Effective use of today's powerful GIS technology requires an understanding of the science of problem-solving that underpins it. Since the first edition published over a decade ago, this book has led the way, with its focus on the scientific principles that support GIS usage. It has also provided thorough, upto- date coverage of GIS procedures, techniques and public policy applications. This unique combination of science, technology and practical problem solving has made this book a best-seller across a broad spectrum of disciplines. This fully updated 4th edition continues to deliver on these strengths"--
