Beaufort Sea extreme wave studies assessment by M. A Murray( Book )
5 editions published in 1986 in English and held by 24 libraries worldwide
There is a wide disparity in the results obtained in studies that quantified the worst sea states in the Beaufort Sea for the purpose of establishing suitable design criteria for offshore projects. The purpose of this report is to seek to explain and attempt to reconcile these differences through a comparison of the methods and assessment of the data used. In addition, shortcomings, weak assumptions, and uncertainties associated with the various methodologies are identified and suggestions for improvements are made. The report focuses on two studies, conducted by Hydrotechnology Ltd. and Seaconsult Marine Research Ltd., the former using a parametric hindcasting method and the latter using a spectral approach. A probabilistic extreme wave estimation approach based on joint probability distributions for wind speeds, duration, and fetch length is used as part of a sensitivity analysis to explain the discrepancies in the two studies' sets of published results. On the basis of the critical review and the sensitivity analysis, an appropriate extreme wave height range is estimated for deep water locations in the Beaufort Sea

The Adventures of Pinocchio (Italian: Le avventure di Pinocchio) is a novel for children by Italian author Carlo Collodi, written in Florence. The first half was originally a serial in 1881 and 1882, and then later completed as a book for children in February 1883. It is about the mischievous adventures of Pinocchio, an animated marionette; and his poor father, a woodcarver named Geppetto. It is considered a classic of children's literature and has spawned many derivative works of art, such as Disney's 1940 animated movie of the same name, and commonplace ideas such as a liar's long nose.Carlo Lorenzini, better known by the pen name Carlo Collodi, (1826-1890), was respected during his lifetime as a talented writer and social commentator, and his fame continued to grow when Pinocchio was first translated into English by Mary Alice Murray in 1892, whose translation was added to the widely read Everyman's Library in 1911. Other well regarded English translations include the 1926 translation by Carol Della Chiesa. [Elib]
