Fred Williams : infinite horizons by Fred Williams( Book )
7 editions published in 2011 in English and held by 193 libraries worldwide
"Fred Williams is one of Australia's greatest painters. He created a highly original and distinctive way of seeing the Australian landscape and was passionate about the painting process itself. This is the first major retrospective of Williams' work in over 25 years. It highlights Williams' strength as a painter including important large oil paintings and luminous gouaches to reveal his distinctive approach, often combining a feeling for place with a strong abstract emphasis. Williams' inspiration often emerged from the unique qualities of landscapes around Australia, from Upwey in Victoria to the Bass Strait in Tasmania and the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Although Williams is most often associated with dry environments, some of the surprises in the exhibition are the works that reveal his fascination with water--ponds, rivers, waterfalls and seascapes. The show uncovers other unexpected elements, such as portraits of his family and friends, and delicate studies in gouache of plants and animals."--Publisher's website

Richard Larter by Deborah Hart( Book )
4 editions published in 2008 in English and held by 132 libraries worldwide
"Richard Larter is widely considered to be one of Australia's most distinguished artists. Born in 1929 he arrived in Australia from England in 1962 and, over the ensuing four decades, created an impressive, provocative, lively body of work. Larters lively wit and satirical insights are matched by his considerable abilities as a draughtsman and particularly as a great colourist. His ability to combine politics, history and sexuality mixed with feeling for colour makes his works unique, energetic and challenging."--Provided by publisher
Home sweet home : works from the Peter Fay collection by Deborah Hart( Book )
5 editions published in 2003 in English and Undetermined and held by 124 libraries worldwide
"Art can illuminate and enrich our lives in many ways. It can excite, provoke, intrigue and inspire. Home Sweet Home: works from the Peter Fay collection demonstrates some of the possibilities of discovering art by transforming the physical space of a home and inspiring the imagination on a daily basis. While the title relates to the domestic nature of the collection, it also takes us into the psychological and expressive realms of what 'art' and 'home' might mean. What distinguishes Fay as a collector is his inveterate risk-taking, his particular vision for opening up dialogues between well-known artists and others who are at the beginning of their adventures in art-making."--Jacket

Tom Roberts by Anne Gray( Book )
1 edition published in 2015 in English and held by 96 libraries worldwide
This publication accompanies the exhibition Tom Roberts at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra and discusses Tom Roberts's life and work and provides details on individual iconic works by Roberts from around Australia. The essays explore among other things Roberts relations with other artists, in particular McCubbin and Streeton who had very different places in his life and art. They also look at the seminal influence of Whistler, Manet and Velasquez on his work -- as well as artists such as Bastien Lepage and Courbet. They also look at his preference for pink tones in his early work and pastel blue and green in his later work. Importantly, this publication includes Roberts's highly popular national narratives such as Shearing the rams 1888-90, A break away! 1891, The golden fleece 1894 and Bailed up 1895. It includes eight of Roberts's panel portraits, 'Familiar faces and figures' from the late 1890s. And shows Roberts's mastery of the art of pastel portraiture with a group of his pastels from this period
Guarding Eden : champions of climate action by Deborah Hart( Book )
6 editions published between 2015 and 2016 in English and held by 68 libraries worldwide
Guarding Eden tells the personal stories of twelve ordinary people who were so concerned about climate change that they altered their lives to do something about it. Some did quiet backroom work in research, drafted submissions or wrote to politicians; others decided to go public, really public - one was part of the team occupying a 160-metre power-plant chimney, one went on a hunger strike publicised around the world, another helped organise 1500 people to make a giant human sign on a beach. They come from all walks of life: there's a nurse, an engineer, a musician, an insurance broker, a teacher, a lawyer, a vet. Surprisingly touching, Guarding Eden makes an issue as complex and controversial as climate change feel human and deeply real
