Rez.: Der Auftakt einer neuen Kinderbuch-Reihe des Autorenteams Mack und Citrin um Sherlock Holmes. Die Konzeption basiert auf der Idee, dass Holmes seine Fälle nicht alleine löste, sondern dass ihm eine Bande von Straßenjungs zur Seite stand. Diese nennt sich Baker-Street-Bande und besteht aus Wiggins, Ozzie, Elliot und anderen. Vordergründig geht es im 1. Band um den Absturz von Hochseilartisten in einem Zirkus. Der Fall weitet sich aber aus und ist in Zusammenhang mit dem Diebstahl eines wertvollen Buches aus dem Königspalast zu sehen, den die Jungs natürlich zusammen mit Holmes lösen. Hierbei dürfen natürlich auch Watson (als Randfigur) und Moriarty (als Meisterverbrecher) nicht fehlen. Auch Inspektor Lestrade ist dabei. Im beschaulichen Stil der Holmes-Geschichten geschrieben sind die Sätze so einfach konstruiert, dass die Kids keine Mühe haben dürften, dem Geschehen zu folgen. Selbst für Holmes-Fans kein absolutes Muss. Bibliotheken sollten sich genau überlegen, ob sie sich diesen neuen, m.E. mäßig spannenden Reihenauftakt anschaffen. Vielleicht da, wo Holmes gut ausgeliehen wird. (Jürgen Wickert)
