Greek sculpture : the archaic period : a handbook by John Boardman( Book )

This sequel to Sir John Boardman's widely acclaimed handbooks on Greek sculpture of the Archaic and Classical periods brings the story down through the fourth century BC to the days of Alexander the Great. The author discusses the innovations of the period - the female nude and portraiture, many important monuments including the Mausoleum at Halikarnassos, and several of the great names such as Praxiteles and Lysippus who were lionised by later generations. Complementing the other handbooks this volume also presents Greek sculpture made in the colonies of Italy and Sicily from the Archaic period onwards, as well as that made for eastern, non-Greek rulers. A final section considers the role of Greek sculpture in moulding Western taste to the present day

A concise history of Indian art by Roy C Craven( Book )
6 editions published between 1991 and 2004 in French and held by 73 libraries worldwide
The grave, sensuous and infinitely varied arts of India have long been admired in the West. Until now there has been no concise guide to the subject as a whole. The author tells the story clearly and vividly from the first, still mysterious, beginnings in the Indus valley, through the great masterpieces of Buddhist and Hindu art to the coming of Islam, the eclectic culture of the Mughal court and the golden age of Indian miniature painting. Much of this art is immediately accessible to the outsider, but much is also enigmatic, needing interpretation and guidance before it can be enjoyed in depth: the strange pantheon of the Hindu gods, the subtle insights of Buddhist mysticism or the complex symbolism of the miniatures

Et puis, ballottée entre deux univers, Francesca, une petite fille qui ressemble à l'auteur enfant, observe la folie et l'aveuglement des adultes, dans un monde qui lentement s'évanouit
