The Decalogue is a 1989 Polish television drama series directed by Krzysztof Kieslowski and co-written by Kieslowski with Krzysztof Piesiewicz. It consists of 10 one-hour films, each of which represents one of the Ten Commandments and explores possible meanings of the commandment, often ambiguous or contradictory, within a fictional story set in modern Poland. The entire 10 episode mini series is featured on the first five discs. Disc Six is a bonus DVD that features a documentary on director Krysztof Kieslowski. An onlooker--the mysterious Young man appearing in each segment--provides the unifies the films. Decalogue IV: Anka is a young drama student who has a close relationship with her widowed father. When he goes on a trip abroad Anka finds a letter revealing that he may not be her real father. Decalogue V: A psychotic youth, randomly and brutally murders a taxi-driver and is subsequently put on trial and found guilty. Decalogue VI: A young man falls in love with an older woman who lives in an apartment across the courtyard. He watches her succession of lovers until she confronts him with a sexual invitation.
