Amusmentorium and stops to help them out. Ben and Sofie's relationship becomes more intimate.

Bablylon: The carnival rolls into Babylon, a tapped out silver mining town. A group of restless miners arrive just in time for the evening show - and Carnivale's latest tragedy. Pick a number: Thirsty for payback, the carnies get caught up in "carnival justice". Ben's dark adventure in the mine ends. Brother Justin decides to take a trip and winds up wandering in the wilderness, then swaps stories with hobos.

Brother Justin struggles with an ultimatum to give up his new ministry.

Outside New Cannan: Ben sneaks into Brother Justin's compond and the Carnivale sets up outside of New Cannan. As Brother Justin baptizes Sofie, Sofie sees Ben and then the body of Eleanor floats by the group. New Cannan, CA: The people of the Carnivale help Ben come up with a plan to defeat Brother Justin and win over his followers. Brother Justin chases Ben into a cornfield as Jonesy follows Stroud to Sofie.

Damascus, NE: The church supervisors are uneasy about Brother Justin's sermons and ask him to submit then for approval before broadcasting. Ben finds Scudder and takes him to see Management, but when Management attacks Scudder, Ben kills him. Outskirts, Damascus, NE: Ben finds out that in order to fullfill his future he had to kill Management to inherit Management's power. At the same time Ben is receiving his power, Brother Justin collapses.

Ingram, TX: While driving around Ingram, TX, Ben runs into a group of people who beat him and then bury him alive. While dividing Ben's posessions the leader comes across Scudder's Templar watch fob and rushes to unbury Ben. He then tells Ben that they have been waiting for him. Old Cherry Blossom Road: Ben's captures take him to see an old woman who says she is his grandma and his captures are his cousins. She gives him a knife and as he touches the knife Justin has a vision of Ben stabbing his chest with the knife.

Lincoln Highway, UT: Ben has a vision of Scudder being drugged and sets off to Cheyenne to rescue him, along the way he encounters Libby and Jonesy after Jonesy's been tarred by an angry mob. Ben heals Jonesy's. In Mintern, Balthus tries to shoot Brother Justin, and Sofie is now working in Brother Justin's house as a maid. Cheyenne, WY: Scudder is brought before Brother Justin, but Smith tells him to wait until the drugs are out of Scudder's system. Smith tries to question Scudder and Scudder kills him and escapes. As Scudder drives away Brother Justin kills him. In Cheyenne, Ben finds a picture of Brother Justin and knows that this is the man he must face.
