Johann is a student lusting after his mother. She is an old flame of the mysterious Count Knotkers. Klara is attracted to her father. He lusts after his other daughter. This leads to duels and suicidal plunges galore. Sexual frenzies teem in this world of repression, setting off incestuous love triangles and quadrangles with deadly consequences

These were the first Australian features to take up the subject of the difficulties faced by migrants in postwar Australia. Both films were made from first hand experience - the involvement of first and second generation migrants, of Turkiewicz as writer-director and Jan Sardi as writer (Moving Out). Silver City dramatises the often alienating experience of the migrant arriving in a new country. Moving Out concerns the everyday conflicts of an Italian teenager. In the latter the struggle for personal identity is complicated by class differences - the dislocation of moving from working class Fitzroy to middle class Doncaster in outer suburbia
