Zuerst aber verhilft Rachel mit Dämonenmagie dem Elf Jenks zu einer menschlichen Gestalt, damit dieser ihr im Kampf mit agressiven Werwolfrudeln zur Seite stehen kann. Nick hat nämlich ein uraltes Artefakt der Wölfe entwendet, das es ihnen erlauben würde, über alle anderen Rassen zu herrschen. Folglich versuchen die Werwölfe mit brutalen Methoden Nick auszuquetschen, um das Versteck der geheimnisvollen Statue zu finden. Rachel, obwohl von Nick total enttäuscht, will ihn nicht seinem Schicksal überlassen und startet eine dramatische Befreiungsaktion. Wieder ist Rachel umgeben von nichtmenschlichen Freunden mit besonderen Begabungen. Der aktionsgeladene Roman ist ideenreich und spannend, Harrison ist eine der besseren Mystery-Autorinnen, deshalb empfehlenswert
