Three siblings, currently leading upper-middle class lives in Istanbul, reunite when they learn their mother, Nusret, has disappeared. They journey through Turkey to the small town in the Black Sea mountains where they were born and where their mother still lives. As the siblings reminisce about her, the tensions between them quickly become apparent and, like a Pandora's Box which is spilled open, all their unresolved disputes are scattered around. The daughters place their mother in an institution and only Murat, Nusret's rebellious grandson, understands how desperate she is to return home. Eventually he removes her from the institution and brings her back to her village in the mountains

Sie wird auch ihren kleinen Enkel auf dem Spielplatz sitzen lassen, weil sie es hasst, sich mit kleinen Kindern abzugeben. Und sie wird sich Gemeinheiten gegen den Cockerspaniel der Familie ausdenken, weil ihr fremde Hunde grundsätzlich auf die Nerven gehen. Erst Sandrine wird sie für kurze Zeit zähmen können, eine junge Frau, die aus ähnlichem Holz geschnitzt ist wie Tante Daniele.
