Saving Shiloh ( visu )
3 editions published between 2006 and 2014 in English and held by 1,140 libraries worldwide
This is the third in a series of films about a boy and his dog, his family, and the mean man next door who isn't so mean, if you get to know him. When an abandoned car is discovered and the driver is reported missing, people immediately begin to suspect that Judd had something to do with it. Later, when the missing driver turns up dead--he was last seen arguing with Judd in a bar--most of the townspeople are ready to convict Judd on general principles. Marty believes in him, and his dad backs him up: Judd is a troubled man, but certainly not a killer. Can a bad person truly change, as long as people give him a chance to do so?
Fuel ( visu )
2 editions published between 2010 and 2011 in English and held by 867 libraries worldwide
The message of "Fuel" is clear: oil is bad, alternative energy is good. Its goals are simple: put Big Oil out of business, and sell the American public on the virtues of cleaner energy sources, such as wind, solar, and ethanol. Josh Tickell, an alternative-energy zealot, has both driven cross-country in a car powered only by fast-food cooking oil and written a book about it. His film is a combination of autobiography, first-person travelogue, history and ecology lesson, and a shamelessly inspirational call to action. Using charts, animated graphics and historical footage, Tickell ties our national obsession with oil to melting glaciers, melting economies, the Iraq war, Hurricane Katrina, and the collapse of the American way of life. Eleven years in the making (a shorter version appeared in 2008 as "Fields of Fuel") the film is not so much a green documentary as a red, white, and blue alarm

Shiloh 2 Shiloh season ( visu )
1 edition published in 2006 in English and held by 538 libraries worldwide
Shiloh is settling in nicely with Marty and his family, but Judd Travers continues to make himself a nuisance, drinking and driving, hunting illegally on land belonging to Marty's family, and threatening to take Shiloh back. Now that he's saved Shiloh, kind-hearted Marty wants to save Judd, despite the fact that Judd wants nothing to do with him. Marty and Judd both face, as Doc Wallace says, "the tests of life" for which there are no simple resolutions. Marty confronts a dilemma kids often face alone: deciding when it's right to keep one's word and when the greater good is to break it; distinguishing truth from gossip and learning how gossip can hurt; and finding out that both kindness and cruelty must be learned and can be taught
