This classic production gathers together three of Stein's plays from 1943, the grotesque and vaguely sinister trio of In a Garden, Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters, and Look and Long, into a mélange of moody, pantomimed vignettes. Each play is directed by Jaap Drupsteen, known for his award-winning videographic special effects, with the voices of all characters set to music and sung-spoken by avant-garde singer/songwriter Fay Lovsky. Almost comic and outright nightmarish, these plays reveal a seldom-seen aspect of Gertrude Stein's oeuvre.
