If they win, they get their wish; if they lose, however, the increased tax burden will destroy their lives. "Handsome Vikram Gowariker arrives from Bombay expecting to study at Berkeley and become a yuppie. But his host family seems to have moved, he's not registered at the school and he has nowhere to stay. With his money and visa running out, it looks like he's out of luck. But things are not always what they seem - especially in the heyday of San Francisco's punk era. To his surprise, Vikram falls in love with the vibrant city and with Sue, a feisty bohemian artist working at a local movie theater. Dodging INS agents as they go, the couple resorts to desperate measures, including a hilariously bungled burglary and an impromptu curbside wedding. It all ends happily with a trip to India and a romantic dance number right out of a Bollywood musical"--Container

This program surveys the world of Bollywood filmmaking, examining the personalities as well as the commercial and thematic concerns that drive central Asia's answer to Tinseltown. Interviews with directors Karan Johar, Ashutosh Gowariker, and Yash Chopra are included, along with commentary from choreographers, musical directors, and Cinemaya Magazine editor Aruna Vasudev.
