The Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn concertos both have played a significant role in Ray Chen's career. His superb performance of the works led to his triumph at two major violin competitions: the 2008 Yehudi Menuhin Competition and first prize in the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels a year later. Chen brings a fresh interpretation to the cornerstones of violin repertoire and finds a kindred spirit in conductor Daniel Harding and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra

Le roi d'Ys : opera in tre atti e cinque quadri by Edouard Lalo( visu )

The opera is a variation of the ancient Breton legend of the city of Ys, a mythical city built off the coast of Brittany, which was subsequently swallowed by the ocean. The choice of subject based in legend, as well as leitmotifs associated with each of the principal characters strongly link the opera to Wagnerism, although it remains a decidedly French opera, with elements of popular music inspired by Breton folklore. This Liege production, directed by Jean-Louis Pichon, comes from Saint-Etienne. Impressing sets, with large rocks, underline the mythical subject; costumes skillfully blend medieval and 19th-century elements

La ronde by Arthur Schnitzler( Book )
5 editions published in 1994 in French and held by 20 libraries worldwide
"First published for private circulation in Vienna in 1900, Arthur Schnitzler's famous play looks at the sexual morality and class ideology of his day through a series of sexual encounters between pairs of characters. When published publicly in 1903, it became an immediate best-seller, scandalized Viennese society, and a year later was censored. Schnitzler was accused of pornography and worse. In 1922 Freud wrote to him that "you have learned through intuition - though actually as a result of sensitive introspection - everything that I have had to unearth by laborious work on other persons." By choosing characters across the social spectrum, La Ronde offers a powerful view of how sexual contact transgresses boundaries of class. Nicholas Rudall's new translation sensitively captures the language distinctions of the representative characters in the play while providing a remarkably playable script."--Jacket
