"This publication follows, for the first time, Frank Stella's artistic development over five decades, and documents the unique retrospective in the Kunst-museum Wolfsburg with numerous images of his paintings, reliefs, sculptures, models, and works on paper. Frank Stella (born 1936) is one of the last living heroes of American painting of the 1950s and the 1960s. With his turn "from Minimalism to Maximalism," he became one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. This catalogue offers a multifaceted overview of a fascinating oeuvre, providing new insights into Stella's work through unusual approaches. It also presents, for the first time, all the work series in an overview on four foldout pages."--Page 4 of cover

Olafur Eliasson : your lighthouse : works with light 1991-2004 by Ólafur Elíasson( Book )
10 editions published in 2004 in English and held by 232 libraries worldwide
Olafur Eliasson's installation entitled The Weather Project cast a veritable spell over visitors to the Tate Museum of Modern Art in London as they gazed in wonder into a glowing artificial sun shrouded in mist in an exhibition setting transformed by the work into a neo-romantic landscape. In his installations, the Danish-Icelandic artist (*1967 in Copenhagen) focuses on the factors that influence human perception in the age of technology-an approach that is more timely today than ever before. In an era in which our relationship to the world around us is shaped by the mediatization of human perception and our awareness of fundamental environmental loss, the juxtaposition of the natural and the artificial in Eliasson's art compels us to reassess our notions about the authentic experience of nature. Works concerned with the phenomenon of light play an important role within Eliasson's oeuvre. Featuring an index of the 138 light and mirror installations completed between 1990 and 2004, this splendidly illustrated volume describes all of the essential aspects of this work complex

James Turrell : the Wolfsburg Project by James Turrell( Book )
9 editions published in 2009 in German and English and held by 207 libraries worldwide
--Book Jacket

Rudolf Steiner and contemporary art by Mario Merz( Book )
6 editions published in 2010 in English and held by 169 libraries worldwide
Ever since the Rudolf Steiner's panel drawings were first exhibited in a contemporary art context in the summer of 1992 at the Galerie Monika Sprüth in Cologne, they went on tour as the transmitter of an 'anthroposophy for the future' through the best known museums in the world. In addition to his paintings, drawings and sculptures, these panel pictures are clearly located at the junction between art and science, programmatically pointing to the key interrelationship between mankind and the cosmos. It was always Steiner's extraordinary way of seeing objects and non-objects that led to sustainable reform projects in such fields as agriculture, education and medicine. This book examines for the first time Anthroposophist thought as reflected in contemporary art and to what extent its integral concepts and aesthetic ideas are realized in the visual arts
The art of deceleration : motion and rest in art from Caspar David Friedrich to Ai Weiwei ( Book )
4 editions published in 2011 in English and held by 163 libraries worldwide
The Art of Deceleration distills a theme that touches a nerve with society. Since the 19th century, the tempo of life has continuously increased up to "rushing stand still" (Paul Virilio). The longing for relaxation and contemplation grows at the same time. The exhibition project in the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg focuses on the contrapuntal phenomenon of motion and rest in art from the Romantic to classic modernism and the present day. From the beginning, the fascination for unleashed motion was accompanied by the search for an aesthetic of slowness. The Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg examines this dialectic in a comprehensive exhibition featuring circa 150 works by 80 artists. Artists of the exhibition: Josef Albers - Giacomo Balla - Joseph Beuys - Alexander Calder - Hussein Chalayan - Francesco Clemente - Giorgio de Chirico - Robert Delaunay - Marcel Duchamp - Caspar David Friedrich - Franz Gertsch - Douglas Gordon - Andreas Gursky - Jeppe Hein - Anselm Kiefer - Frantisek Kupka - El Lissitzky - Aristide Maillol - Kasimir Malewitsch - Christian Marclay - Kris Martin - Aernout Mik - Lazlo Moholy-Nagy - Giorgio Morandi - Bruce Nauman - Roman Opalka - Julian Opie - George Osodi - Nam June Paik - Julius Popp - Odilon Redon - Gerhard Richter - Auguste Rodin - Mark Rothko - Thomas Ruff - Jonathan Schipper - Jean Tinguely - William Turner - James Turrell - Cy Twombly - Lee Ufan - Fabienne Verdier - Bill Viola - Andy Warhol - Ai Weiwei - Zhou Xiaohu - and others
