Erstmals wird hier das gesamte Klavierwerk von Pierre Boulez auf künstlerisch und klanglich höchstem Niveau eingespielt inkl. der bislang noch nie auf Tonträger erschienenen, erweiterten Fassung von Incises (1994/2001). Mirjam Wiesemann führte ergänzend zur Musik ein ausführliches Gespräch mit Pierre Boulez in seinem Büro im IRCAM in Paris, unter anderem über die Freiheit des Ausdrucks in der seriellen Musik, Frank Zappa, John Cage, Kontrolle und Zufall, das Theater, seine Arbeit als Komponist und Dirigent, über Neugierde und Talent, seine Kindheit, über das in-sich-gehen im Alter und die Rebellion in der Jugend. Dimitri Vassilakis, einer der wenigen Pianisten von Weltrang, die den höchst virtuosen und diffizilen Klavierwerken von Pierre Boulez gewachsen sind, und der zudem seit über 20 Jahren in dessen Ensemble InterContemporain mitwirkt, ist nicht nur der ideale Interpret dieser Veröffentlichung, er konnte ebenfalls für ein sehr persönliches Gespräch mit Mirjam Wiesemann gewonnen werden. IRCAM (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique) is a European institute for science about music and sound and avant garde electro-acoustical art music. It is situated next to, and is organizationally linked with, the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The extension of the building has been designed by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers. Boulez used this technology in the 70's and 80's to create the 2 instrumental pieces on this recording
