In 1900, a group of girls from an elite boarding school go on an excursion to Hanging Rock, Victoria. It's a beautiful St. Valentine's Day and some of the girls decide to explore the Rock more closely. Three pupils and the teacher mysteriously disappear. The police are called in but their search turns up nothing, no bodies and no sign of foul play. One week later one of the girls is discovered unconscious, she has been sexually molested but she is unable to provide any clues as her mind is blank as to the events and whereabouts of the others
