Photocopy of handwritten lists. One item is dated 30 June and presents the names of the passengers of the Horizon that left from Liverpool, England in 1856. The 856 entries include the names, occupations, and ages of the passangers and where they were born. Many of the passangers on the Horizon were Mormon immigrants who migrated to Utah in the ill-fated Martin handcart company later that year. Also included are partial lists of passangers on the ships the James Wesmoth and the Admiral.

Film shows research vessels R/V Spencer F. Baird and R/V Horizon sailing in the South Pacific, south toward Antarctica and up the west coast of South America. Scientists H. William Menard and Robert L. Fisher were the expedition leaders. Deck activity such as plankton hauls, boat drills and coring is depicted.
