For the past four years, a gerontology service learning course has collaborated with senior centers and retirement facilities to create connections across generations dialogue groups. As part of the course requirements, the students co-facilitate and participate in weekly conversation groups at senior centers. The groups discuss issues such as the impact of historical events on the seniors' lives; similarities and differences between the generations in education, work, and family life; challenges people face as they get older; and social controversies such as changes in Social Security and Medicare
