Ein arbeitsloser Schneidergeselle aus Seldwyla, Wenzel Strapinski, wird im Nachbarstädtchen Goldach irrtümlich für einen polnischen Grafen gehalten. Wenzel flieht in die Winternacht, seine Verlobte aber eilt ihm nach
