Notes: Consists of [8] white and red leaves (of Japanese handmade paper) and a separate continuous accordion folded strip of twelve panels (76 cm. x 42 mm. folded to 63 x 43 mm.) The [8] leaves (mostly blank, only two printed on one side) contain the 'Foreword, ' typesigned at end: Robert E. Massmann, and the colophon: 'Edition limited to 500 ... Typography and binding by R.E.M. Lithographed at Central Connecticut State College.' The continuous strip is printed on one side and contains only drawings, in blue and brown; its first leaf is pasted to the inside rear cover and it opens vertically. Cover title. The text of the rhyme illustrated is on cover and the first three lines read: 'There was an old woman / Tossed up in a basket / Seventeen times as high as the moon ... ' From the library of Ruth E. Adomeit, copy 1-2 with her bookplate.
