Abstract:
"How Are You Feeling Today?" presents 4 emotional responses: happiness, sadness, anger and fear. Pupils view color filmstrips and are asked by the taped narrative to recognize and label emotions from facial and body movement cues. Games permitting the matching of facial and body expressions and the expression of personal feelings are also included. The materials include 6 color filmstrips with cassette tapes and a teacher's manual. 'Making Faces' introduces the 4 emotions and asks the students to imitate the clown faces in the filmstrip.
'Sometimes People Feel Happy,' 'Sometimes People Feel Sad,' 'Sometimes People Feel Angry' and 'Sometimes People Feel Scared' explore different forms of expressing these feelings in different situations. The final set, 'How Are You Feeling Today?', explores the multitude of emotions everyone feels at different times and encourages pupils to discuss their own feelings. The specified instructional level includes preschool through grade 3. Each filmstrip and cassette tape set is available separately. B/JAG, 1-76
