Trans-Neptunian objects and comets : Swiss society for astrophysics and astronomy by D Jewitt( )

14 editions published between 2007 and 2010 in English and held by 384 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"In the last two decades of the 20th century, we obtained our first detailed look at a cometary nucleus and detected objects in the Kuiper-Edgeworth Belt for the first time. These two observations have resulted in a major leap forward in our understanding of small bodies in our Solar System. Combined with powerful new approaches to the study of Solar System dynamics, progress within the last 20 years has been staggering. This book attempts to synthesize these new findings in a manner which is readable for new graduate students in the field."--Jacket
Protostars and planets V by Protostars and Planets( Book )

8 editions published between 2005 and 2007 in English and held by 167 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

'Protostars and Planets V' builds on the latest results from recent advances in ground and space-based astronomy and in numerical computing techniques to offer the most detailed and up-to-date picture of star and planet formation - including the formation and early evolution of our own solar system
Minor bodies in the outer solar system : proceedings of the ESO workshop held at Garching, Germany, 2-5 November 1998 by ESO Workshop( Book )

7 editions published between 2000 and 2011 in English and held by 162 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This volume tries to summarize the status of observational knowledge of the Kuiper Belt. Its recent discovery has revitalized the astromomical study of the Solar System and is beginning to open new and unexpected windows on the physics of planetesimal accretion. With more and better observational data being obtained at the technological limit of current facilities, a new perception of the relationships that exist among the various classes of small Solar System bodies has emerged. The new observations have also motivated a number of fascinating theoretical studies in Solar System dynamics
Kuiper Belt objects along the Pluto-Express path by D Jewitt( Book )

3 editions published in 1997 in English and held by 82 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The science objective of this work is to identify objects in the Kuiper Belt which will, in the 5 years following Pluto encounter, be close to the flight path of NASA's Pluto Express. Our hope is that we will find a Kuiper Belt object or objects close enough that a spacecraft flyby will be possible. If we find a suitable object, the science yield of Pluto Express will be substantially enhanced. The density of objects in the Kuiper Belt is such that we are reasonably likely to find an object close enough to the flight path that on-board gas thrusters can effect a close encounter
Trans-Neptunian Objects and Comets by D Jewitt( )

7 editions published between 2007 and 2008 in English and held by 50 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Solar System Beyond Neptune( Book )

2 editions published in 1997 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The aim of this research is to assess the contents of the trans-Neptunian solar system. Previously thought to be empty, the region beyond Neptune is now known to hold a vast abundance of bodies dating from the earliest phases of the solar system. We have pioneered the application of charge coupled device (CCD) surveys as a means to locate and identify Kuiper Belt objects. The present research aims to drive these techniques to their limit, in order to increase the observational sample as much as possible

Divers do it deeper by Ke ji qi ye gu fen you xian gong si( Visual )

1 edition published in 1978 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Looks at the saturation diver who, for 3 weeks, lives in a pressurised atmosphere of helium and oxygen at 500 feet below the sea surface. He is now an essential part of the technology for extracting North Sea oil. Discusses the hazards of helium diving which include the 'bends', nitrogen narcosis, and more recently occurrences of bone necrosis

Satélites Irregulares by D Jewitt( )

1 edition published in 1980 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Examines the magnetic field which envelopes the earth and looks at questions about its existence which only recently have begun to be answered. Also reports on progress in research into the magnetic field
