Ryszard Kapuściński : a life by Artur Domosławski( Book )

58 editions published between 2010 and 2017 in 9 languages and held by 492 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Reporting from such varied locations as postcolonial Africa, revolutionary Iran, the military dictatorships of Latin America and Soviet Russia, the Polish journalist and writer Ryszard Kapuściński was one of the most influential eyewitness journalists of the twentieth century. During the Cold War, he was a dauntless investigator as well as a towering literary talent, and books such as The Emperor and Travels with Herodotus founded the new genre of ‘literary reportage’. It was an achievement that brought him global renown, not to mention the uninvited attentions of the CIA. In this definitive biography, Artur Domosławski shines a new light on the personal relationships of this intensely charismatic, deeply private man, examining the intractable issue at the heart of Kapuściński’s life and work: the relationship and tension between journalism and literature."--p. Wykluczeni by Artur Domosławski( Book )

7 editions published between 2016 and 2017 in Polish and held by 33 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Śmierć w Amazonii : nowe eldorado i jego ofiary by Artur Domosławski( Book )

7 editions published between 2013 and 2017 in Polish and held by 16 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

-- various websites

Drug policy in Portugal : the benefits of decriminalizing drug use by Artur Domosławski( Book )

4 editions published in 2011 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In 2000, the Portuguese government responded to widespread public concern over drugs by rejecting a "war on drugs" approach and instead decriminalized drug possession and use. It further rebuffed convention by placing the responsibility for decreasing drug demand as well as managing dependence under the Ministry of Health, rather than the Ministry of Justice. With this, the official response toward drug-dependent persons shifted from viewing them as criminals, to treating them as patients. This report describes the process, context, ideas, and values that enabled Portugal to make the transition to a public health response to drug use and possession. Now, with a decade of experience, Portugal provides a valuable case study of how decriminalization coupled with evidence-based strategies can reduce drug consumption, dependence, recidivism, and HIV infection, and create safer communities for all
