Different dads : fathers' stories of parenting disabled children( )

12 editions published in 2007 in English and held by 1,920 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Fathers of disabled children can feel overlooked when the focus of much parenting support is aimed at mothers. Different Dads is a collection of inspiring personal testimonies written by fathers of children with a disability who reflect on their own experiences and offer advice to other fathers and families on the challenges of raising a child with a disability. The fathers featured represent a broad spectrum of experience. Their contributions reflect a wide range of cultures; some are single fathers, others are married adoptive fathers. What they all have in common are the challenges that face them and their families in raising a child with a disability. Issues explored include the reactions of family, friends and colleagues, how to deal with the organisations and professionals that support families with a disabled child, and the difficulty of being open about feelings in a culture that doesn't always expect men to have a sensitive or nurturing role. Offering direct and thoughtful perspectives on being a father of a child with a disability, this book will be a valuable source of support and information for families with disabled children, and also for health and social care professionals who work with these families

Next time you are in a crowded public place; look to the person on your left and look to the person on your right. One of you, statistically, will die of cancer. Another one of you will die of a heart attack & unless things change! I can already hear cries of, "It won't be me!" And I hope so. A third of people in Europe, North and South America are dying from cancer, and half are dying from heart attack, and it's spreading rapidly around the world. But it's worse than that; chronic disease, due to obesity and poor diet, is hitting people at a younger age, as the years progress. Our children a

"On Monday, May 7, hear Jill Harrison discuss "In the Eyes of the Beholder: Treasures and Trash in the Attic." Jill Harrison, the owner of ArtSmart New England.com, will talk about the best finds in her 15 years of professional work as a qualified personal property appraiser. She’ll discuss how we perceive value as a culture and how societal values can influence monetary value. She’ll show us examples of items considered "ugly" which turned out to be valuable and “valuable” items which had nominal monetary worth. She’ll tell us why material culture is important to understanding history. She’ll showcase a collection of 10,000 items inspired by a fire, some unusual items and the "yard sale Picasso" in Newton. In a fast paced discussion we’ll comb through hundreds of years of "stuff." We’ll leave knowing more about the intrinsic nature of valuing items. And perhaps, we'll understand a bit more about what people save and why they save it."--http://ma-lincoln.civicplus.com/Calendar.aspx?EID=4532&month=5&year=2018&day=7&calType=0

Chakra colour and energy cleanse by Jill Harrison( Recording )

1 edition published in 2007 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This is CD number 7 in a series of guided meditations for spiritual and personal development; directly from the Archangels and Ascended Masters, through trance-channeller Jill Harrison. Archangel Metatron gave Jill and Glenn this guided meditation as part of their on-going Ascension programme. It turned out to be a very difficult meditation to do at first; so we have given a lengthy introduction of how to do this guided meditation, so that you don't go through all the trials and tribulations that we did. We've made it much simpler for you to understand the visualisation process. This is probably the most beneficial meditation that Jill and Glenn have ever done. You learn how to draw energy colours from the earth, to cleanse your body and re-align your energies. It's a truly wonderful experience. This meditation is performed seperately on this disc, by both Jill and Glenn; so that you have a choice of a male or female voice to listen to. This also gives you variation, when listening to this guided meditation regularly. Jill and Glenn are repeatedly told they have healing voices
