Stroke & Parkinson's disease by Peixin Huang( Book )

2 editions published in 2007 in English and held by 30 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Stroke and Parkinson's disease affect a great number of individuals around the world, most commonly appearing in the elderly. Although present pharmaceutical approaches to treatment achieve a certain therapeutic effect, many side effects usually result. Furthermore, these approaches fail to prevent progression. Systematic literature review shows that the application of Chinese medicine results in a definite therapeutic effect with very few side effects. Chinese medicine applies a strategy of regulation while both strengthening physical resistance and eliminating pathogens. Methods may be applied that simultaneously supplement and free the vessels, depending on the specific pattern differentiation. The clinical experience and experimental research collected here validates the superlative results that can be obtained when Chinese medicine is combined with standard rehabilitation methods

When applied with accurate pattern differentiation, Chinese medicinals have an impressive record of effective treatment for stubborn GI disorders. Because current biomedical approaches often result in serious side effects and a high incidence of recurrence, Chinese medical approaches have even greater appeal. The diagnostic and treatment methods presented herein are based on centuries of clinical observation, along with modern research. The text features pattern differentiation and treatment with herbs and acupuncture, clinical experience of contemporary physicians, case studies from famous Chinese doctors, relevant modern research, and selected quotes from classical texts

Menstrual disorders I : dysfunctional uterine bleeding & amenorrhea by Yi Si-Tu( Book )

in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

AOM STUDENT REVIEW: "Just like the title states, it pretty much covers all the common topics in female disorders before menopause. The chapters are divided into the various symptoms or disorders, which are further divided into eastern diagnoses. There are key characteristics, treatment principle, formulas with explanation of each ingredient, and modifications to formulas. It is very clinical and gives you a better understanding of converting western symptomology to eastern diagnosis. It also has cases that are commonly seen in a clinical setting, and treatment plans and formulas for those particular cases. It has a research section at the end of each topic where they experiment with methods like, scalp acupuncture to treat PMS. This is definitely a must read for those that want to specialize in female disorders." J. Woo, COAM
