La séduction éthique de la situation analytique : aux origines féminines, maternelles de la responsabilité pour l'autre by Viviane Chetrit-Vatine( Book )

5 editions published between 2010 and 2016 in French and held by 54 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The author proposes, as the axis of her research, an encounter between E. Levinas's philosophical developments and J. Laplanche's psychoanalytic hypotheses. The primal situation, 'the fundamental anthropological situation', that is the inevitable meeting between the new-born, then child and the caring adult environment, is considered in light of its double asymmetrical dimension: -A seductive asymmetry, related to the primal seduction exercised by the adult world upon the child -An ethical asymmetry, related to the fact that the adult world is responsible towards this child, while its physical and psychical survival depends on this 'ethics as responsibility towards the other'. This double asymmetry of the 'ethical seduction', articulated with 'the analyst's passion', is actualized a-new in the analytic cure. It stays at the origins of the appropriation of subjectivity. Clinical vignettes connected with the 'offer' of analysis, the setting and the analytic process, illustrate this proposition. Finally, a new psychoanalytic hypothesis relating to the origins of ethics as responsibility towards the other, is developed: It is linked to the feminine/maternal in any human being
ha-Pitui ha-eti shel ha-matsav ha-analiṭi : ʻal ha-meḳorot ha-nashiyim-ha-imahiyim shel ha-aḥariyut kelape he-aḥer by Viviane Chetrit-Vatine( )

2 editions published in 2019 in Hebrew and held by 29 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The words seduction and ethics, which at first sight seem mutually exclusive, are at the heart of the analytic perspective. Vivian Chetrit-Vatine takes as her starting-point an encounter, which is not necessarily consensual, between Emmanuel Levinas's thought and his conception of philosophy as ethics - ethics understood as responsibility for the other - and that of the psychoanalyst Jean Laplanche, who posits the first adult other as a seducer of the young psyche from the outset, due to the transmission of enigmatic messages compromised by his or her unconscious. The analyst's ethical position is re-examined and with it the feminine/maternal origins of the human capacity for responsibility for the other
