The book of the damned by Charles Fort( Book )

87 editions published between 1919 and 2018 in 4 languages and held by 632 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Welcome to a record of the damned"By damned," wrote Charles Fort in 1919, "I mean the excluded. We shall have a procession of the data that Science has excluded." Fort's survey of the unknown was one of the first to expose modern people to visitors from space, monsters, poltergeists, and floating islands. Frogs fall from the sky. Mysterious airships take flight in an age before the airplane. People disappear, reappear, and spontneously combust. This volume reintroduces the central and most influential work of Fort's career, in which he pushed us to ask: What is out there?

This scholarly exploration of the borderlands between science and fantasy features four complete works by the redoubtable Charle Fort (1874-1932): The Book of the Damned, Lo!, Wild Talents, and New Lands . All concern the bizarre phenomena unexplained by traditional science: flying saucers, telekinesis, sudden showers of fish from the sky, stigmata, poltergeists, and spontaneous combustion.
Lo! by Charles Fort( Book )

34 editions published between 1931 and 2014 in 5 languages and held by 364 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Lo! was Charles Fort's third book. In it Fort examines a multitude of scientific anomalies. Fort is widely credited to have coined the now-popular term teleportation in this book, and here he ties his previous statements on what he referred to as the Super-Sargasso Sea into his beliefs on teleportation. He would later expand this theory to include purported mental and psychic phenomena in his fourth and final book, Wild Talents
New lands by Charles Fort( Book )

32 editions published between 1923 and 2018 in 6 languages and held by 297 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Charles Fort believed that no matter how honest scientists think they are, they are still influenced by various unconscious assumptions that prevent them from attaining true objectivity. In this book Fort tackles a great number of unexplained paranormal occurrences from a fresh and unbiased point of view. His writing is complex, violent and poetic, satirical and subtle, and profound. Long before the X-Files popularized the idea of objectively investigating paranormal events, Fort was investigating these happenings and chronicling his findings
Wild talents by Charles Fort( Book )

18 editions published between 1932 and 2018 in 3 languages and held by 263 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Like Fort's previous works Wild Talents deals with a number of anomalous phenomena and Fort's ongoing attack on scientific dogma. Though not as well-known as some of his other works, Wild Talents is arguably Fort's best work. Fort's writing style and tongue-in-cheek sense of self-deprecating humor is on full display in this book as a result, this book is generally easier to read than his earlier works
