Molecular mechanisms of oxygen activation by Osamu Hayaishi( Book )

17 editions published between 1974 and 2014 in English and held by 532 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Molecular Mechanisms of Oxygen Activation reviews some of the major advances that have been made in our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying oxygen activation, with emphasis on the role of oxygen activation in contemporary biological processes. The biological role of oxygenases in the metabolism of fatty acids and steroids is discussed, along with the functions of heme-containing dioxygenases, <U+00dc>-ketoglutarate-coupled dioxygenases, and pterin-requiring aromatic amino acid hydroxylases.
This book is comprised of 14 chapters and begins with an overview of the general properti
Oxygenases by Osamu Hayaishi( Book )

14 editions published between 1962 and 2014 in English and Undetermined and held by 416 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Oxygenases focuses on the processes, methodologies, technologies, and approaches involved in oxygenases, including its distribution in animals, plants, and microorganisms and its role in the metabolism of aromatic, cyclic, and aliphatic compounds.

The selection first offers information on the history and scope of oxygenases, methodology of oxygen isotopes, and phenolytic oxygenases. Discussions focus on the separation and purification of compounds for isotopic analysis; general properties and mechanisms of action of oxygenases; physiological significance of oxygenases; dehydrogenases, o
ADP-ribosylation reactions : biology and medicine by Osamu Hayaishi( Book )

15 editions published between 1982 and 2014 in English and held by 341 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

ADP-Ribosylation Reactions: Biology and Medicine deals with the biochemical and physiological aspects of poly(ADP-ribose) and ADP-ribosylation of proteins. Topics covered range from pyridine nucleotide metabolism and ADP-ribosylation to the structure and properties of poly(ADP-ribose), along with acceptor proteins of poly(ADP-ribose). ADP-ribosyl protein linkages and poly(ADP-ribose) synthetase are also discussed.

Comprised of 39 chapters, this book begins with a historical background on the discovery of poly(ADP-ribose) and the significance of poly- and mono(ADP-ribosyl)ation reactions

Iron and copper proteins by Symposium on Iron and Copper Proteins( Book )

9 editions published in 1976 in English and held by 287 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

An Fe- and Cu-Protein Symposium was held on December 15-18, 1975 the East West Center-University of Hawaii and was sponsored by United States-Japan Cooperative Science Program under the auspices of the National Science Foundation and the Japan Society the Promotion of Science. It was recognized by the organizers of the symposium that talloproteins are very important in the field of health science and a subject worthy of discussion by experts from the United States, Japan and Europe. The meeting was restricted to Fe- and proteins but this is still a very broad subject matter and therefore, selected topics of current interest in this field were chosen. This book contains the collected papers from most of the symposium participants. The subject matter covered in this book is divided into four parts. These are: 1) the iron-sulfur proteins (which are not a t of the mitochondrial electron transport system); 2) the iron-sulfur proteins and heme proteins of the mitochondrial electron sport system; 3) other heme and nonheme iron proteins; and 5) selected copper proteins
