Most widely held works by Irvin S Snyder
Bacteria and human disease by John Madison Slack( Book )

10 editions published between 1978 and 1988 in English and held by 194 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Identification of pyogenic cocci by Irvin S Snyder( Visual )

8 editions published between 1972 and 1978 in English and held by 11 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Describes the microbiologic test and microscopic morphology used to differentia te and identify strains of pyogenic cocci
Laboratory diagnosis of viral infection( Visual )

3 editions published between 1975 and 1978 in English and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

(Critical) This program gives a good general introduction to viral diagnostic methods. Specimen collection and handling and principles of tests are discussed. Although the information given is quite good, the usefulness of the program is severely limited by defects in technical design. The visuals do not advance automatically; it is extremely difficult to keep them synchronized with the audio. Many visuals are unnecessary and they must be changed almost constantly. Due to these defects, the program in only marginally recommended
Identification of the brucellaceae by Educational Images (Firm)( Visual )

6 editions published between 1972 and 1978 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

(Critical) This program describes the laboratory identification of the Brucellaceae but includes under this family Hemophilus, Bordetella, Pasteurell, Francisella and Yersinia. The presentation offers nothing beyond the textbook and only creates confusion with its outdated classification. The well-known hazards of handling these organisms is not even mentioned. Although a good program regarding this class of organisms is needed, this program cannot be recommended
The Enterobacteriaceae by Irvin S Snyder( Visual )

3 editions published between 1975 and 1978 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

(Critical) This is an excellent and unique program which covers the laboratory identification and speciation of gram negative rod pathogens within the Enterobacteriaceae group. Both practical and technical aspects of the subject matter arecovered. This superior program is highly recommended for use in continuing education of clinical microbiology laboratory personnel in order to maintain high standards in identification
Virus replication in cell culture by University Park Press( Visual )

7 editions published between 1972 and 1978 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

(Critical) This program explains and demonstrates the technique of preparing primary cell cultures using chick embryos. The preparation of the monolayer is shown and its use for virus plaque assay with poliomyelitis, German measles and mumps viruses are visualized. The presentation is technically well done though very superficial from a theoretical point of view. Therefore, the program can only be recommended with reservation as supportive demonstration of a more theoretical presentation, virus isolation, etc. This may particularly be the case for instructions or laboratories where tissue culture facilities are not available
The family bacillaceae by University of Iowa( Visual )

4 editions published between 1972 and 1975 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Presents the colonial and microscopic morphology of members of the genus Bacillus and the methods and reactions used to differentiate the aerobic sporeformers
Principles of the precipitin and complement-fixation tests( Visual )

1 edition published in 1975 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Describes a quantitative (block) precipitin test indicating areas of antigen and antibody excess and equivalence point. Demonstrates the importance of gel diffusion and interpretation of reactions in gel. Also illustrates the principles of complement-fixation, controls, and interpretation. Compares the sensitivity of complement-fixation test with that of the preciptin test
Transplantation immunology by Santiago J Munoz( Visual )

4 editions published between 1972 and 1978 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

(Critical) This program defines the four types of tissue grafts (iso-, auto-, allo- and xenografts), presents the surgical approach for employing skin grafts in the guinea pig, pictures the gross appearance of accepted and rejected grafts, briefly presents the histology of such grafts and touches upon mechanisms of rejection and methods of immunosuppression and tissue typing. The presentation of the macroscopic appearance of the various grafts is accurate. But several deficiencies exist in other parts. Some of these are: (1) the scope of objectives is too narrow to make this a real learning experience; (2) several inaccurate statements regarding HLA loci, macrophages and not lymphocytes as the antigen processing cell, etc.; and (3) the title promises more than the program gives. The program is not recommended
The Anaerobic bacteria( Visual )

in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Description of requirements for specimen collection, specimen acceptability, and processing: normal anaerobic flora; disease states caused by anaerobic bacteria; and antimicrobial susceptibility testing and patterns of anaerobes
Principles of the precipitin and complement-fixation tests( Visual )

3 editions published between 1972 and 1978 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
