Gitanjali = Song offerings by Rabindranath Tagore( Book )

561 editions published between 1900 and 2015 in 37 languages and held by 3,384 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Gitanjali (Bangla Gitanjoli) is a collection of 103 English poems, largely translations, by the Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore. This volume became very famous in the West, and was widely translated. Gitanjali (Gitanjoli) is also the title of an earlier Bengali volume (1910) of mostly devotional songs. The word gitanjoli is composed from "git", song, and "anjoli", offering, and thus means - "An offering of songs"; but the word for offering, anjoli, has a strong devotional connotation, so the title may also be interpreted as "prayer offering of song". The post office by Rabindranath Tagore( Book )

109 editions published between 1914 and 2011 in 9 languages and held by 1,121 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This is a very brief Bengali play in 2 acts, first published in 1912. A young boy is dying, and out the window of his house he can see a new post office that has just opened in the town. The boy talks to anyone who passes his window, and he quickly becomes convinced that the king has sent a letter to him that will arrive soon at the new post office. Essentially a story about living in the moment and transforming the ordeal of suffering through imagination and the art of storytelling, this play embraces honest sentiment without straying into sentimentality. --Adam at www.goodreads.com
Sādhanā; the realisation of life by Rabindranath Tagore( Book )

120 editions published between 1913 and 2015 in 3 languages and held by 1,028 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

All the great utterances of man have to be judged not by the letter but by the spirit-- the spirit which unfolds itself with the growth of life in history. We get to know the real meaning of Christianity by observing its living aspect at the present moment-- however different that may be, even in important respects, from the Christianity of earlier periods. For western scholars the great religious scriptures of India seem to possess merely a retrospective archaeological interest; but to us they are of living importance, and we cannot help thinking that they lose their significance
