Critique of judgment by Immanuel Kant( Book )

6 editions published between 1932 and 1947 in Japanese and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In THE CRITIQUE OF JUDGMENT (1790), Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) seeks to establish the a priori principles underlying the faculty of judgement, just as he did in his previous critiques of pure and practical reason. The first part deals with the subject of our aesthetic sensibility; we respond to certain natural phenomena as beautiful, says Kant, when we recognise in nature a harmonious order that satisfies the mind's own need for order. The second half of the critique concentrates on the apparent teleology in nature's design of organisms. Kant argues that our minds are inclined to see purpose and order in nature and this is the main principle underlying all of our judgements. Although this might imply a super sensible Designer, Kant insists that we cannot prove a supernatural dimension or the existence of God. Such considerations are beyond reason and are solely the province of faith

Die Flucht vor Gott by Max Picard( Book )

Vytříbeným básnickým jazykem staví švýcarský filosof do protikladu svět útěku, který je mu nesourodým, nesoudržným, jen vnějškově a náhodně spojeným útvarem, kde je člověk v úzkosti a opuštěnosti, a svět víry, v němž spatřuje stav, kdy člověk přestává být nejednotný a rozptýlený, kdy nabývá integrity vnitřního života i činného působení. Autor zkrátka nabádá k hlubokému prožiti života a k odmrštění povrchnosti. Abstraktní, avšak velice vyvážená apoetická meditace vyjadřuje tu samou ideu jako konkrétně zaměřená autorova kniha Hitler v nás

Critique of practical reason by Immanuel Kant( Book )

2 editions published between 1972 and 1989 in Japanese and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Kant's 1788 follow-up to his epochal Critique of Pure Reason analyzes the practical aspects of reason, which is concerned with will, or self-determination. He argues that the freedom of the will becomes the practical necessity of determining how one shall lead one's life, with the fundamental principle of morality being the "categorical imperative" stating that one should be obligated to act so that any moral action could be made into a universal law binding all mankind
