Himmler et son empire by Edouard Calic( Book )

25 editions published between 1965 and 2013 in 4 languages and held by 129 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Reinhard Heydrich : Schlüsselfigur des Dritten Reiches by Edouard Calic( Book )

8 editions published in 1982 in German and held by 125 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Calic (b. 1910) was the Berlin correspondent for a Yugoslav periodical when he was arrested for anti-Nazi activities and incarcerated in Sachsenhausen between 1942-45. Ch. 10 (pp. 432-487), "Der Generalissimus des biologischen Krieges", deals with Heydrich's responsibility for the inception of the Final Solution. Contends that Heydrich's role in Nazi policy-making and organizing the Final Solution has been insufficiently recognized. Heydrich has been viewed either as a satanic figure or as an essentially apolitical man driven by ambition. Claims that interviews with former associates prove that, in fact, he was driven by a deeply felt "völkisch" ideology and that he regarded the Jews as the most important enemy within Germany
