The free-stream boundaries of turbulent flows by Stanley Corrsin( Book )

8 editions published between 1954 and 1955 in English and held by 14 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

An experimental and theoretical study has been made of the instantaneously sharp and irregular front which is always found to separate turbulent fluid from contiguous "nonturbulent" fluid at a free-stream boundary. This distinct demarcation is known to give an intermittent character to hot-wire signals in the boundary zone
Extended applications of the hot-wire anemometer by Stanley Corrsin( Book )

4 editions published in 1949 in English and held by 10 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The first analysis leads to a method for the measurement of physically significant statistical quantities in a turbulent flow with heat transfer. The second analysis involves the use of the hot-wire in the turbulent isothermal mixing of two approximately different gases
Further experiments on the flow and heat transfer in a heated turbulent air jet by Stanley Corrsin( Book )

5 editions published between 1949 and 1950 in English and held by 9 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The results show that the jet spreads more rapidly as its density becomes lower than that of the receiving medium, even when the difference is not sufficiently great to cause measurable deviations from the constant-density, dimensionless, dynamic-pressure profile function. Rough analytical considerations have given the same relative speed
Investigation of flow in an axially symmetrical heated jet of air by Stanley Corrsin( Book )

4 editions published between 1943 and 1979 in English and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The first phase of this investigation was concerned primarily with the determination of a suitable aerodynamic setup. When the final flow arrangement was achieved, attention was turned to the measuring equipment
Thirty-ninth annual report of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, 1953. Including technical reports Nos. 1111 to 1157 by United States( )

2 editions published in 1954 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Investigation of the behavior of parallel two-dimensional air jets by Stanley Corrsin( Book )

3 editions published in 1944 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

An investigation was made of the flow downstream from a "two-dimensional grid," formed of parallel rods. The two-dimensional character of the flow was insured by end plates normal to the rods and covering the entire flow field
Thirty-seventh annual report of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. 1951. Including technical reports nos. 1003 to 1058 by United States( )

2 editions published in 1952 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Diffusion of heat from a line source in isotropic turbulence by M. S Uberoi( Book )

6 editions published between 1952 and 1953 in English and Undetermined and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

An experimental and analytical study has been made of some features of the turbulent heat diffusion behind a line heated wire stretched perpendicular to a flowing isotropic turbulence. The mean temperature distributions have been measured with systematic variations in wind speed, size of turbulence-producing grid, and downstream location of heat source. The nature of the temperature fluctuation field has been studied. A comparison of Lagrangian and Eulerian analyses for diffusion in a nondecaying turbulence yields an expression for turbulent-heat-transfer coefficient in terms of turbulence velocity and a Lagrangian "scale". The ratio of Eulerian to Lagrangian microscale has been determined theoretic ally by generalization of a result of Heisenberg and, with arbitrary constants taken from independent sources, shows rough agreement with experimental results. A convenient form has been deduced for the criterion of interchangeability of instantaneous space and time derivatives in a flowing turbulence
Thirty-sixth annual report of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, 1950. Including technical reports Nos. 951 to 1002 by United States( )

Spectrums and diffusion in a round turbulent jet by Stanley Corrsin( Book )

2 editions published in 1950 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

One-dimensional power spectrums of velocity and temperature fluctuations, measured in unheated and heated jets, respectively, have been contrasted. Under the same conditions, the two corresponding transverse correlation functions have been measured and compared. Measurements have been made of the mean thermal wakes behind local (line) heat sources in the unheated turbulent jet, and the order of magnitude of the temperature fluctuations has been determined
