The State of things by Wim Wenders( Visual )

15 editions published between 1981 and 2013 in 4 languages and held by 59 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The state of things refers to the state of cinema as it seemed to Wenders after his abortive experience of filmmaking in Hollywood. This is, above all, a mood piece, an allegorical reflection on the art and the industry circa 1980. The first half concerns a low budget science fiction film being made in Portugal (a remake of Allan Dwan's The Most Dangerous Man Alive) which is stalled for lack of funds; a sense of inertia prevails. The second half moves onto firmer narrative ground as the film's director, Fritz, seeks out the producer, Gordon, in Los Angeles. Gordon is supposedly looking for the finance to resume the production but he is, it seems, in serious trouble
